Inspiring the Next Generation – JFC x Girls with Hi-Vis
JFC was proud to once again take part in Girls with Hi-Vis – an initiative led by Connexis to inspire young women to consider careers in infrastructure.
We welcomed female high school students from participating schools to get hands-on experience in the field. The students were given opportunities to operate machinery and lay clay pavers which involved filling a box with basecourse, compacting, levelling, then laying the clay pavers in a specific pattern. These activities gave them a real taste of what it’s like to work in construction.
We also had two of our own female team members share their journeys. They spoke openly about their roles, their challenges, and the rewards of working in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry.
“I’m definitely seeing a big change and shift in the industry and the culture. I’m seeing more women and young girls seeing it as a potential career path and I love to be a part of that.” – Kayla, JFC Site Engineer
At JFC, we are committed to creating a more inclusive and welcoming industry. Initiatives like Girls with Hi-Vis play a key role in breaking down barriers and showcasing the many opportunities available in infrastructure.
