Celebrating World Environment Day: Our Progress and Our Promise
At JFC, we’re proud to hold Toitū’s carbonreduce certification – a meaningful step in our ongoing journey toward environmental responsibility. This year marks our fifth year of certification, and we’ve made significant strides since our base year, with a 17% improvement in emissions efficiency per kilometre travelled and a 55% improvement in emissions efficiency per manhour worked.
We’re actively tracking greenhouse gas emissions across a variety of large developmental projects, with ambitious targets of a 5% reduction in emissions intensity over the next five years, and a 50% reduction by 2050. These goals are aligned with the Paris Agreement (2015), supporting efforts to keep global temperature rise well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.
In addition to emissions, we’re committed to reducing our impact on landfill. On average, we currently divert 75% of our waste from landfill each month, and that number continues to improve with the ultimate goal of achieving zero waste to landfill.
This isn’t just about ticking a box. It’s about building smarter, cleaner, and with a long-term view. Every project is a chance to make a positive impact.
Happy World Environment Day 🌎
