Waitangirua Link Road
The Waitangirua Link Road project is a key infrastructure initiative supporting ongoing urban development in Eastern Porirua. It facilitates connectivity between Waitangirua, Whitby and the Transmission Gully Motorway, enabling better traffic flow and supporting future residential and commercial growth in the area. This project addresses long-standing infrastructure constraints and integrates vital services, including new water supply mains and electrical ducting, while improving resilience against seismic and environmental risks and minimising disruptions to the community and ensuring sustainable practices throughout construction.

The scope of works consisted of the following:
Construction and commissioning of approximately 2.3 km of PE100 PN16 water mains, including 400 mm and 315 mm diameter pipelines, along with boundary valves, hydrants, and a pressure-reducing valve to support operational flexibility within the Porirua water supply network. All systems were fully tested and commissioned to ensure performance and resilience.
Supply and installation of 2.3 km of dual 150 mm uPVC SN4 ducting to support future 11kV electrical and fibre optic networks, including coordination with utilities for cable hauling and joint installations
Vegetation clearance and site establishment, reinstatement of road surfaces, and construction of a maintenance bay with modified crash barriers to allow future utility access
Delivery of staged road closures and detailed traffic management plans to maintain safe operations while minimising disruption to residents and surrounding communities
Implementation of erosion and sediment control measures in accordance with regional requirements to protect surrounding ecosystems, alongside adherence to Accidental Discovery Protocols to appropriately manage any archaeological findings
