Swan Lane – Garrett Street Laneways
JFC was engaged by Wellington City Council to deliver the Swan Lane and Garrett Street Laneway Upgrade, a streetscape improvement project spanning Swan Lane and Garrett Street, crossing the iconic Cuba Street and extending between Marion and Victoria Streets. The project aimed to enhance walkability and public safety while creating vibrant, welcoming open spaces in the heart of the city.

The scope of works consisted of the following:
- Upgrading underground infrastructure, including a 3-metre-deep drilled sewer connection on Swan Lane.
- Constructing new stormwater-filtering raingardens and garden beds along Garrett Street and at the Cuba Street intersection.
- Installing high-specification concrete paving, asphalt footpaths, and surface treatments.
- Milling and resurfacing the Cuba Street intersection.
- Installing extensive new lighting to improve safety and highlight both urban greenery and nearby heritage buildings.
- Supplying and installing new street furniture, including seating and bike racks.
- An additional work package involved the upgrade of nearby Glover Park, which included resurfacing pathways, replacing tiered tiles with a smooth plastered finish, installing a hybrid lawn, and adding new seating and rubbish bins.
