Project K – Mercury Lane and Pitt Street

Project K forms part of Auckland Transport’s Connected Communities Programme, closely associated with the City Rail Link (CRL) Karanga-a-Hape Station precinct. The project transforms the streets surrounding Pitt Street, Mercury Lane, Cross Street, East Street, Canada Street and Beresford Square into a safer, more connected, and more welcoming gateway to the station and the wider Karangahape Road neighbourhood – enhancing pedestrian and cycling connections throughout the precinct.   JFC was engaged as the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) partner in 2023, before transitioning to Main Contractor for construction – providing continuity across design refinement, programme development, and delivery. Working closely with Auckland Transport, City Rail Link Limited, Vector, and Auckland Council, JFC coordinated complex interfaces with station entrances and adjoining infrastructure to deliver a seamless urban upgrade across one of Auckland’s busiest corridors. Throughout construction, continuous vehicle and pedestrian access was maintained along the strip, which carries over 22,000 vehicles per day.
