Ferry Terminal Enabling Works, Wellington
JFC undertook enabling and future-proofing works of terminal infrastructure at the Wellington Ferry Terminal at Kaiwharawhara Point. With precise planning and close coordination with KiwiRail and the InterIslander, works were delivered in and around rail movements and ferry sailings to prevent network disruptions.

The scope of works consisted of the following:
- Environmental wildlife controls including penguin surveys, relocation of eels from the stormwater network to Kaiwharawhara Stream, lizard counts and monitoring, installation of a 250m lizard exclusion fence, creation oaf lizard refuge and the trapping and relocation of lizards to refuge
- Site clearance of up to 15,000m2, with vegetation removal of 6,800m2
- Bulk earthworks of 30,000m3 of cut to fill, including onsite screening of construction aggregate of 8,400m3, cut to waste recycling for quarry rescreening and reuse of 3,300m3, and 11,000m3 of cut to waste
- Installation of a 730m combined service route trench, requiring the crossing of existing services, 3 rail crossings, a bridge/stream and the strategic Mobil Fuel line, within a tidal environment with contaminated ground water. The installation of 13 pipes totalling 9490m in length, included 8 uPVC power ducts, 3 uPVC communication ducts, 1 PE sewer rising main and 1 DI water main
- Installation of a secondary trench, with 1 uPVC communication duct and 1 DI water main (each 185m in length), requiring the crossing of existing services, 1 rail crossing and 2 roads
- Drainage installation with 200m of concrete pipes, 7 manholes and 43m of K300 Acodrain
- Construction of 200m of footpath, kerb and channel and associated landscaping including a 110m2 rain garden
- Surfacing of 5,700m2 of 50mm AC20 to PV yard and 1,200m2 of trench reinstatement
