Low-Permeable Barrier works at Te Ara Tukutuku on behalf of Auckland Urban Development Office have started!

This stage of the remediation programme focuses on preventing existing contaminated groundwater from leaching into the Waitematā Harbour. To achieve this, we are installing an underground barrier which is about 9 metres deep and 2 metres wide, constructed from overlapping panels of cement slurry and soil mix – an engineered solution designed to contain and isolate contamination at its source.

Enabling works involving capping and containing contaminated soils continue in tandem, keeping the broader programme moving forward in parallel.
